About
Fritz Lang's Metropolis (with original new score by Factory Floor)
Following the discovery of previously missing footage in 2008 - a "holy grail" among film finds - Metropolis underwent extensive restoration work and was re-released in 2010. Fritz Lang’s 1927 sci-fi epic can now finally be seen as the director originally intended and as seen by German cinema-goers in 1927.
Factory Floor are Nik Void and Gabriel Gurnsey, whose electronic improvisational style of performance has seen them at home in gallery spaces like Tate Modern, to clubs like Fabric and Berghain to a remote volcanic Island of Stromboli in collaboration with British artist Haroon Mirza. Their critically acclaimed album 25 25 was released in the summer of 2016 on James Murphy’s influential DFA Records.
In 2017 they began work on fulfilling the commission by London Science Museum to create a brand-new score for Metropolis. The film is now screened at Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts, accompanied by this original new music by Factory Floor.
Part of Cinecity 2017
Please note - Factory Floor will not be playing live, this is an original score they have composed that will be played alongside the film
