About
Avant Garde Dance: Fagin's Twist
Fagin’s Twist is the untold story of a notorious, complex and perhaps misunderstood villain. It imagines the story of Fagin’s youth, driven by greed and ambition in the face of overwhelming poverty. The streets are a place of little comfort, escape and redemption are impossible and there is no fairy tale ending.
Tony Adigun’s Avant Garde Dance unravel and explode Dicken’s Oliver Twist in a moody and sinister hip hop reworking of the classic tale. Sleight of hand, face-offs and the ducking and diving requisite to survival are lent a unique tension through the mastery of dance while our notions of the ‘good’ and ‘bad’ are fundamentally challenged.
South East Dance will be working in partnership with local dance groups in Sussex, who will perform at the opening of each show.
