About
Circuit Des Yeux
Vocalist, composer and producer Hayley Fohr has been Circuit des Yeux since she was eighteen years old. Born in the Year of the Dragon in Lafayette, Indiana’s own “Star City” — she has been based in Chicago since 2012. She has released records regularly over the past decade: four full-length albums, along with several mini-albums and singles. Meanwhile, she has played shows everywhere, touring extensively.
The records and shows have been done in primarily DIY fashion, allowing Circuit des Yeux to reflect from a singular angle on connections between and collisions of the cerebral and the physical, with a sense of colloquial grit and a transcendent spirit in her words and her music.
Circuit des Yeux is a frequent collaborator, numbering Glenn Branca, Lee Ranaldo, Bill Orcutt, Bitchin Bajas & Bonny ‘Prince’ Billy and Olivia Block among her fellow performers.
The fifth Circuit des Yeux album, Reaching for Indigo, is co- produced by Haley Fohr and Cooper Crain, and has received affirmative commentary from sources including The Quietus, NPR, New York Times, Brooklyn Rail and The Wire. It is described in the Chicago Reader as “a stunning artistic leap” and Pitchfork notes that it is “bursting with ambition.”
All we can tell you in addition is that she has a four-octave range — at least on days when it isn’t raining.
Support from TALsounds
Natalie Chami adopted the TALsounds moniker in 2009 for her solo explorations in the drone, ambient, and electro-acoustic improv disciplines. In live performance, Chami's analog synthesizers weave together into drifting loops that evolve in tandem with her vocal leads and choral harmonies. After a series of tape releases on labels like Hausu Mountain and Moog's own physical imprint, Chami released her first TALsounds LP, Love Sick, with New York's Ba Da Bing Records. As a member of free music trio Good Willsmith, she has toured the country and released eight albums since 2012, including the LPs The Honeymoon Workbook (2014) and Things Our Bodies Used To Have (2016) on Mexico City-based label Umor Rex. Chami also performs as half of ambient duo l'eternebre. She is Lebanese, was born in Ontario, and lives in Chicago.
