Jérôme Bel's The Show Must Go On - Final Year Performance Project: Drama, Theatre & Performance
In a compelling new stage work, University of Sussex Drama Finalists perform an exact copy of the iconic piece The Show Must Go On, by French choreographer Jérôme Bel.
Presented with Bel’s permission, the cast have been meticulously studying a 2001 recording of the original show, learning to reproduce every movement and gesture from the video, down to the smallest detail. The result is an uncanny copy, a strange and mesmerizing transformation of a video into live action, interrogating ideas of appropriation, originality and theatrical representation.
Directed by Augusto Corrieri
An accompanying exhibition on the project will be on display in the Jane Attenborough Studio.
