METIS: Future Scenarios in the context of Climate Change
After the success of World Factory in our Autumn 2016 season, METIS are back in residence, creating WE KNOW NOT WHAT WE MAY BE, commissioned by Artsadmin. This new project explores the premise that to change the future we need to be able to imagine it, collectively. Over 10 days there will be a variety of public conversations and workshops, including:
14 February 2-4pm: workshop (Studio)
This workshop is public and is particularly appropriate for students of geography, environmental science, economics, history, international relations and other related disciplines.
What would the best alternative economic structure be to deal with climate change? What would it feel like to live in such a world? Drawing on the work of economists and geographers from Paul Mason to Ha-Joon Chang, and Donella Meadows to Donna Haraway, this workshop will explore the relationship between systems, decision-making and our perceptions of what is possible. Over a couple of hours we will co-construct the detail of an alternative economic system, and imagine what it might be like to live in it.
