About
Sonic Ghostings
by Danny Bright
Installations open from 7pm
Performances start at 7:30pm
Simultaneously engaging with practices of field recording, installation, electroacoustic composition, audio manipulation, site-responsiveness, graphic score and improvisation, ‘sonic ghosting’ seeks to offer a way to interrogate the relationship between space/place/memory and sound/music/noise by fracturing the soundscape of the present with the echoes, phantoms and potentialities of the soundscapes of the past/future.
Representing the culmination of a three-year AHRC doctoral research project focused on the development of a sonic ghosting practice, this evening of installation and performance brings together a selection of work from across the project. It will include retuned presentations of multichannel and binaural presence responsive installations; acoustic and electroacoustic compositions; and a new performance built live from fragments of the other works.
