Deborah Pearson: HISTORY, HISTORY, HISTORY

A live documentary exploring the history of a cinema, a football star and a family. Deborah Pearson explores the connect and disconnect between the personal and the political while projecting the entirety of a Hungarian film that was meant to be premiered on the day the Budapest Uprising started. As Pearson loosely translates this 1956 football comedy, it gives way to the stories of a writer who lost his name, an actor who lost his voice, and a country that lost its revolution.

Deborah Pearson is a writer, performer and dramaturg born in Canada and based in the UK. She founded and co-directs the artist collective Forest Fringe.  

A House on Fire commission with Théâtre Garonne (Toulouse) and bit teatergarasjen (Bergen) funded by Culture Europe, developed in part at the National Theatre Studio and the Norwich and Norfolk Festival.

Pay What You Decide

There are up to 20 Pay What You Decide (PWYD) tickets available to guests on a first-come, first-served basis. Come and see the show without paying anything in advance, and then pay what you think is appropriate at the end of the show. Maximum of four PWYD tickets per person. Concessions

The Concessions rate is available for students, University of Sussex students, Over 60s, and people in receipt of JSA or DLA/PIP. Proof of eligibility may be required on the door or at the box office (if collecting).

Box Office Opening Times

The box office (phone line and drop-in service) is open from 10am to 4pm, Mondays to Fridays. The box office is also open one hour before the advertised show start time.
