About
The University of Sussex Musical Theatre Society presents West Side Story, an adaptation of Romeo and Juliet set in 1950s New York. The Jets are a gang of young Americans, whose rising tensions with the Puerto Rican gang The Sharks, starts to cause issues in the neighbourhood. Aggressions rise when Tony and Maria, two lovers on either side of the conflict, start a secret relationship leading to violence between the rival gangs.
The Sussex Musical Theatre Society is a student run society that has brought a variety of musicals to life in the last 25 years. In this production they are joined by Sussex Societies, Swing Dance, Show Choir and Folk Society who will perform pre-shows ahead of various performances.
Sussex Musical Theatre Society brings you a striking take on this classic musical.
