The café bar at Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts is a beautiful, airy space, full of plants and natural light. The full-length windows open out onto a terrace and lawn outside, bathed in the evening light at sunset each day.
We are now open from 8.30am on weekdays and serving a delicious range of breakfasts including hot and cold food and plenty of vegan options.
The café bar also offers a selection of sandwiches and delicatessen board “sharing platters” (charcuterie, cheese board, seafood and vegetarian / vegan) with local produce sourced from ethical suppliers. Seasonal salads and soups are also available. The bar stocks selection of local beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks.
Lewes-based interior designers Jeannine Inglis Hall and Gary Campbell have furnished the space with a distinctive combination of refurbished Basil Spence chairs, mixed with bespoke oak tables (created by local designers) and mid-century sofas and armchairs. The bar itself is a beautiful curved concrete structure with a zinc top, created to chime with the original materials used in the building.
The café bar is a child-friendly space - a good place to visit as a family. Well-trained dogs and assistance dogs are also welcome.
The café bar is open Monday to Friday from 8.30am-6pm during University of Sussex term time, and it will usually be open for at least one hour before advertised performance times. See the programming pages for more details.
