About
Bloodyminded follows SJ, played by Isis Davis [Electric Dreams, Lie Low] as she breaks into an army base on a personal mission: to bury the ashes of her great-grandfather Harold Steele, one of the 16,000 conscientious objectors imprisoned under life-threatening conditions during WW1.
Once inside the army base, surrounded by soldiers including her half brother Varney, played by Theo Barklam-Biggs [Kingsman: the Secret Service, The Inbetweeners Movie] and the ghosts of past wars, SJ’s confidence falters.
Part of 14-18 NOW, the UK’s arts programme for the First World War centenary, Bloodyminded is the UK's first interactive live streamed feature film, shot in a single take and broadcast to cinemas and online - once and once only. Guided by the narrator, we are asked to consider our own relationship with violence - as individuals and as members of a society that continues to wage wars on our behalf. Cinema audiences respond in real time via an app created by Blast Theory; while online audiences can respond via bloodyminded.org. For more information on using the WiFi at the venue, see the pdf download to the right.
Four-times BAFTA-nominated artist group Blast Theory are pioneers of interactive art. They have shown work at Sundance Film Festival, Tribeca Film Festival and the Venice Biennale.
Co-commissioned by 14-18 NOW and Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts, with support from Media Partner Pathfinder International.
